Wild Formosan Macaques receives the Gold Remi Award at the 2018 Houston Worldfest Film Festival

The Shoushan National Nature Park Preparatory Office will be hosting a series of screenings of the movie Wild Formosan Macaques at the Shoushan National Park Visitor Center, starting from August 2018. The documentary, commissioned by the Shoushan National Nature Park Preparatory Office and directed by Liao Dong-Kun, was filmed over a period of three years at Shoushan. Recently, the film was honored at the 51st Worldfest Houston Film Festival, where it won the Gold Remi Award.

Hsu Ya-ju, head of the Shoushan National Nature Park Preparatory Office, says: “We welcome everyone to attend these screenings and, through watching this film, learn more about the ecology of the Taiwan macaque. Additionally, while we insist that people refrain from touching, feeding, or provoking the macaques, we hope that as many people as possible can come to Shoushan and enjoy the sight of these lovable monkeys.”

On the 4th of August at 1:30pm, Associate Professor Su Hsiu-hui of the National Pingdong University of Science and Technology will come and discuss the results, challenges and benefits of primate research. The film will be screened at 3:50pm after the talk concludes. Additional screenings will also take place from Tuesday to Friday at 10am and 2pm each day at the Shoushan National Nature Park Visitor Center.
