Given that marine recreational activities are getting more popular, the number of tourists visiting Kenting has greatly increased, causing drastic environmental impact to the coastal coral reef ecosystem. Among them, much destruction is due to the lack of understanding or limited understanding on corals by the visitors. If one does not know the importance of coral, they not only cannot perceive their beauty, but will cause contamination and pollution to them and not be aware their actions that are harming the coral.

In order to allow the public take note and pay attention to the marine ecosystem of the coral reef, Kenting National Park, along with Underwater Photography Association Taiwan and Taiwan Coral Reef Society, will hold an underwater ecological photography competition. Applications are accepted starting from today to Apr. 2nd, 2017 and the winner of the best picture can win the money award of NT$30,000.
