Beach patrol tower constructed

Ocean recreational activities at Kenting National Park have always been one of the most popular tourists attractions in Taiwan. The beach patrol bears important responsibility; not only do they protect visitors' safety and monitor ocean restrictions, they also have to withstand all kinds of weather conditions such as wind, sun, and rain. In order to provide patrols with better working conditions, the Kenting National Park Headquarters constructed four lookout towers at Baisha, Dawan, Chuanfan Rock, and Fishing Village beaches (a tower was installed at Nanwan last year).

The lookout towers have two stories, and measure 4.8 meters high (2.4 meters for each level), and are 3.1 meters long and 2.6 meters wide. There are 4 panels as well as doors and windows installed on the bottom level, providing a temporary place to place life-saving equipment and a place for patrols to hide in case of heavy rainfall. The two-story design also allows the patrols a 360 degree view.
