Kenting National Park Headquarters Thanks You for Slowing Down and Yielding to Land Crabs During Breeding Season

This year, Kenting National Park Headquarters planns to enforce a 2km crab protection traffic control along Shadao Road in Banana Bay during the land crab breeding season (around full moon during June and October on the lunar calendar) to protect the larval release migration of land crabs. The 2km under traffic control are from 39.5 k to 41.5 k on the Provincial Highway 26, and only 2 lanes are accessible on the original 4 lane highway. The outer lanes will be closed in both directions.

The period of traffic control will allow and suspend traffic access to roads for 10-minute interchanging intervals, and a guiding vehicle will instruct cars to slow down, so that the land crabs may safely cross the road to release larvae. The traffic control period is during 18:30 to 20:30 on July 27 to 29, August 25 to 27, September 24 to 26, and October 23 to 25. During October the traffic control is from 18:00 to 20:00.

We hope the public will comply with the control and support us in creating a national park-friendly road. We thank you for slowing down, waiting, and kindly yield the way, so that mommy land crab has a safe passage to giving birth.
