Webcast of blue-tailed bee-eater watching begins June 2, 2017 at Kinmen National Park

The blue-tailed bee-eater (Merops philippinus) is a characteristic migratory bird found only in Kinmen. For more citizens to see its beauty and charm, Kinmen National Park has installed 360° spherical surveillance cameras at Cihu Triangle Fortress, with a broadband connection built through the assistance of the Kinmen Office of Chunghwa Telecom. With webcasts, Kinmen National Park can broadcast the behaviors, including hole digging, courting, mating, and brooding, of blue-tailed bee-eaters across the world. The park has also erected screens at Cihu Triangle Fortress and the Shuangli Wetlands Nature Center for visitors to watch the bird.

The webcast opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, 2 June 2017, at the birdwatching platform of Cihu Triangle Fortress.
