To enhance the water quality for household use in Dongjiyu and Dongyuping islands and to provide safe and sufficient drinking water to inhabitants on the islands, Marine National Park Administration organized the Construction of New Desalination Plant in Four Southern Island of Penghu (Dongjiyu and Dongyuping), including the water collecting engineering, slow sand filtering engineering, piping engineering, water storage engineering and desalination engineering (for independent electricity generation and the 23 tons-per-day desalination module). All the above items were completed in October 2017 and scheduled to officially open for use from mid-December onwards.
