National Parks of Taiwan

On 15 May 2017, Taijiang National Park Headquarters received the “wetland mark certificate” from the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) to become Taiwan’s first unit ever to be certified with the wetland mark for milkfish culture in the shallow water system.

Last (2016) September, Taijiang National Park Headquarters applied for the wetland mark in accordance with the Wetland Conservation Act. MOI approved the application this year to express the conservation idea of coexistence between man and nature and achieve the visions of: living, production, and ecology together; realize the spirit of the Satoyama Initiative by of encouraging more fishermen to practice the shallow water system, in order to increase the area of practice of the shallow water system, maintain wetland ecology together, and set an original example for smart wetland use.
