"10-minute Speed Curb for Crabs" - Kenting National Park Headquarters Starts Crab Protection Activities for Land Crab Breeding Season

To protect land crabs going to the sea to spawn, the Kenting National Park Headquarters is enforcing a traffic control along Provincial Highway 26's Shadao Road section in Banana Bay during the land crab breeding season this year (around full moon during June and October on the lunar calender). The traffic control will affect two kilometers of the road, between the 39.5 k mark and the 41.5 k mark on the Provincial Highway 26, affecting 2 kilometers of the road. Two lanes will be accessible on the original four-lane highway as the outer lanes will be closed in both directions, and the road will be closed at designated times.

During the traffic control period, the inner lanes will be opened for 10 minutes each time after the road has been closed for 10 minutes. The traffic control takes place from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on July 17-19, August 15-17, September 13-15, and October 13-15. In the final month (October), the traffic control is from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

The Pingtung Environmental Protection Union, and the Third Maintenance Office of Directorate General of Highways will work together to give educational information about land crab protection on the site of the traffic control We thank you for waiting, slowing down, yielding the way, and being kind, so that mommy land crab has safe passage to give birth.
