Marine National Park Headquarters Hosts "Joint Coastal Cleanup" Event on Dongji Island

In order to raise awareness towards marine conservation, to improve the quality of the environment, and to protect the sustainability of the ocean, the Marine National Park Headquarters invited the Coast Patrol Corps 7 of the Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch, Coast Guard Administration, Ocean Affairs Council, Executive Yuan to co-organize the Joint Coastal Cleanup event of marine debris and polystyrene using the polystyrene recycling technology of the NGO "HiiN Studio".

The event attracted 75 participants, who removed a total of 456.5 kg of floating marine debris, primarily polystyrene and plastic bottles. Residents of Donji Island, its Inspection Office, staff at the Donji Lighthouse of the Maritime and Port Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and staff at the Donji Weather Station also participated in this event. Thanks to the additional help on waste recycling and treatment provided by the Penghu County Government Department of Environmental Protection and the Ocean Citizens Foundation, this successful event restored the beauty of our coast.
