Come and Experience the Anshun Salt Fields During the Autumn/Winter Bird Watching Season!

Migratory birds move south with the monsoon as autumn arrives. The dry season in southern Taiwan lasts from October to February of the following year, and it is the perfect time of the year to dry salt. Salt workers refer to this period as the “little flood season”. In recent years, Taijiang National Park Headquarters has collaborated with local organizations to revitalize the salt drying industry, and has also organized various educational and promotional activities.

Two sessions of the “Anshun Salt Farm Plant Ecosystem and Salt Field Experience Tour” will be held on 9/27 and 10/4. Members of the public are invited to come learn about coastal plants and experience the salt field culture. For more details, please see Event Information.

In addition, the Tainan City Salt Friends Care Association, a local organization that has long been engaged in salt field restoration, has also developed a series of family-friendly experiences and activities. By participating in the salt-drying experience, the public can learn more about the weather conditions that lead to seawater crystallizing into salt through the labor and wisdom of salt workers. The activities include: the salt-drying experience, DIY rainbow salt shakers, and making brined tofu pudding. Those interested in the activities are welcome to visit the association’s Facebook page:Taiwan Salt-Pan Eco-Village.
