“Community Banquets: Taijiang Food Culture Special Exhibition”: Read and Experience Food Culture to Learn about Local Traditions

The Taijiang National Park Headquarters are not only committed to nature conservation, but also continuously showcase a variety of exhibitions that help people learn about Taijiang from different perspectives. The central theme of this special exhibition surrounds the book “Searching for the Bygone Flavors of Taijiang”, published by the Taijiang National Park Headquarters. It explores the eating habits of the olden days and the local traditional cuisine. The exhibition provides insights into the wisdom of life as reflected in Taijiang’s food culture through the acquisition of ingredients, cooking methods, and serving utensils. Visitors will be able to learn more about this place from the context of environmental changes, human development, and industrial changes over the past 400 years.

To provide the public with an understanding of Taijiang’s local lifestyle and how it is interpreted in terms of food and drinks, in addition to showcasing the traditional utensils used in the early fishing activities, the oral and video records of local elders, and the specialty cuisines of different communities in Taijiang, there will also be a game to experience the banquet culture of Taijiang.

The exhibition will be on display in the special exhibition room on the 2nd floor of the Taijiang National Park Visitor Center from now until August 1, 2021.
