Qingtiangang Grassland Central Trail Scheduled to Reopen on August 31, 2019

The Central Trail of Qingtiangang Grassland, which everyone has been eagerly waiting for, is scheduled to reopen on August 31. For the Central Trail Safety and Protection Facility Improvement Project, a fence about 530 meters in total length, with 130-cm-tall posts connected by 3 backing rails, was set up. It was meticulously designed by professional teams after much deliberation between Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters and experts. The fence’s appearance and materials strike a balance between aesthetics and weather resistance, and it prevents buffaloes from passing through or jumping over.

Two hundred and fifty meters of the trail, stopping at the first lookout, will be opened first on August 31. The entire trail will open at the end of September after the construction is completed. In the second stage of the construction, circling fences will be installed for the first and second recreational grasslands. In an alternating manner, the two grassland areas will be provided for wild buffaloes to eat grass or for visitors to engage in recreational activities.

As for the section starting from Qingtiangang to Jinbaoli Gate on the Dingshan - Shitiling Trail, as well as the grassland section on the Lengshuikeng-Qingtiangang Trail, fences and relevant facilities will be installed in the third stage of the construction. As the original Qingtiangang Circular Trail is located within the habitat of buffaloes, with the exception of the Central Trail which has fences set up to allow passing, all other sections are still temporarily closed at this stage.
