Maintain a New Harmony Between People and Water Buffaloes Please Do Not Disturb the Feral Water Buffaloes

The feral water buffaloes in the Qingtiangang Grassland of the Yangmingshan National Park have long set apart the area's ecological and grassland scenery. People and the water buffaloes have come into conflict in the past. For example, a visitor sat on the grass too close to a calf and was therefore attacked by the mother buffalo; and visitors trying to avoid a buffalo herd on the trail were still attacked by rampaging buffalo during the rut. The Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters would like to once again remind visitors to avoid disturbing, touching, or teasing the water buffaloes. Do not use flash when taking photos; keep your pets on a leash to avoid disturbing the buffaloes; keep your distance from the buffaloes and do not cross the barriers; keep a distance of at least 20 meters when walking on unfenced trails or in open areas; and use the protective bollards to prevent attacks.

If you visit Qingtiangang Grassland and post your photos on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #20mHarmonyPeople&Buffaloes, before the end of August, you can pick up a gift from the Qingtiangang Visitor Service Station until stocks last. An additional 20 prizes will be given away in a lucky draw, please see event for more details. National parks have limited manpower but the power of citizens is unlimited. Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters asks the public to spread the information and protect Yangmingshan National Park together.
