Opening of the Boat-Shaped Fortress in Kinmen National Park - The Unique Military Landscape of Kinmen Presented by a Battleship-bunker Stationed on the Coast

At 10:00 AM in the morning on January 18, 2019 (Friday), Kinmen National Park Headquarters held the opening ceremony for the "Boat-Shaped Fortress" (E-037), a re-purposed historical battlefield site in the National Park.

Kinmen National Park Headquarters states that the "Boat-Shaped Fortress" is also named "Hushan Fortress". Having three levels, the fortress is also called "Three-level Fortress" or "Diamond Fortress". Located on the beach of Hushan Bay in Houbian, Kinmen, the fortress is commonly called the "Boat-Shaped Fortress" for its unique shape that resembles a battleship. It’s a rarely-seen military base in the shape of a boat. By putting an emphasis on the military base’s historical background, architectural features, defense imagery and more, a new life is injected into the military camp, achieving the goal of re-purposing historical military sites.
