How can one have the romantic calla lilies on Yangmingshan, the snowy peaks of Yushan, the beaches of Kenting in hot sun, rustic historical houses of Kinmen, ageless forests of Dabajian Mountain or tortuous historical trails at one time?

The seven national parks in Taiwan have been established by people of foresight to protect the beauty of nature. Yet sometimes we could feel nature is beyond our reach, while some natural marvels are just too transient to capture. Yet through camera lenses, the regret can be made up. Photos of nature help draw people closer to this great world.

“Eyes on National Parks Photography Contest” was held by the CPAMI to connect people to nature. On 2008/10/2, experts were invited to form a panel to judge all the entries. Judges included: Ling Jhuang, , Da-ben Yang, , Bing-dong Guo, Yan-nan Liou, Wun-yu Shen, Dong-kun Liao, Shu-fei Lu.

The judging meeting resolved that a person cannot win more than one of the following prizes: Gold, Silver, Bronze, Excellence, and Premium, while the Select Prizes allow duplicate winners. There are totally 51 winners, including one for each of the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Prizes, 10 for the
Excellence, 10 for the Premium, and 28 for the Select. National Parks Quarterly has picked the top 13 works for our readers to have the first peek.

More excellent works will be exhibited in the “Beauty of Taiwan—Special Exhibition on the National Parks” in National Taiwan Museum from 11/20/2008 to 04/19/2009. We invite you to come join this art feast; for more details please go to the contest website: (http://np.cpami.gov.tw/campaign/2008/).
