What to Do to Ensure Personal Safety When Cycling on Forest Trails

Since the Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters launched the pilot program for cyclists to use the East Branch of Dalu Forest Road, there have been 4,633 applications to enter the route. Members of the public can ride their bicycles to enter the East Branch and explore the cloud forest belt. This is a worthwhile destination for slow exploration on bikes and also one of the diverse selection of activities offered to those visiting national parks.

The Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters asks for visitors’ understanding that they would be entering the traditional territory of the local Indigenous peoples. No matter how correct the visitors believe their behavior to be, visitors should understand that the successful co-existence between the mountain and the Indigenous people is essential for the conservation of the mountain. Therefore, visitors should ensure they respect every part of the environment around them.

In addition, the public should consider their own physical abilities, assess all risks, reduce the load to be carried, and have proper cycling equipment. If visitors use a rental bike to enter the area, please ensure that it is from a legally-compliant business, check whether there is insurance coverage, and confirm the integrity of the parts in order to protect their own rights and interests. Please make sure all these actions have been taken to ensure personal safety when cycling on forest trails.
