National Park Partners Gather at Taijiang to Experience Sustainable Co-Prosperity of the Fishery and Salt Industry

On November 2nd and 3rd, the Taijiang National Park Headquarters held the “2023 National Park Partnership Industry Experience and Experience Exchange Symposium,” where nearly 100 representatives from community partners, schools, NGOs, and national park personnel were invited to gather together and share their experiences in working with local communities to preserve and upgrade local industries.

Under the theme of “industry experience,” the Taijiang National Park Headquarters planned two activities, namely “Fish Farm Harvest Table” and “Salt Industry Across the Century.” During the “Fish Farm Harvest Table” activity, participants learned about the production and selection of clams under the registered brand of Black-faced Spoonbill through seafood diet education. During the “Salt Industry Across the Century” activity, participants visited the Anshun Salt Fields, tile-paved salt fields that were established a hundred years ago, to learn about the sun-drying salt production process in the olden days and to experience the daily life of saltworkers in the traditional salt villages.

Director General Chen said that in the past, national parks around the world tended to operate under a more strictly controlled framework, but in recent years, the focus has gradually shifted to a greater emphasis on local residents and culture. He hoped that the various national park headquarters would continue to develop and operate multiple collaborations based on the existing partnerships, so as to expand their influence and enhance the results.
