In order to renovate the barriers along the Qingtiangang Central footpath and to protect visitors' safety, Yangmingshan National Park has temporarily closed the Qingtiangang Circular Trail. During this time, visitors to the park can use Japanese Road (Riren Road) to make their way to the Qingtiangang Visitor Center and the Yulu Historical Trail and Dingshan-Shitiling Trails, while visitors traveling along the Juansi Falls and Lengcing Trails can follow the trails toward the Visitors Center to reach Qingtiangang.

After many generations of reproduction, Qingtiangang water buffaloes have come to be classified as an untamed and wild animal. Although they will not actively attack those who keep their distance, they may threaten people who come too close, especially those in groups or with dogs.

Yangmingshan National Park Section Chief Zhan De-Shu has asked that the public maintain a safe distance from all water buffaloes. Avoid touching them, playing with them, using a camera flash to photograph them, going too close for a photograph, and bringing dogs. Additionally, he asks that members of the public avoid surprising or disturbing the water buffaloes, to prevent any harm to both the park guests and the animals.
